Operation
for a tennisellbow
(epicondylitis lateralis
humeri)
This is a right
ellbow on the chest of the patiënt. Around the upper arm is an inflated tension
cuff to prevent bleeding in the operative field. The place of the incision is
marked as well as the point of the bone (circle) where the tendon originates.
This little piece of bone can be removed as well as in this case.
The skin is opened and the white tendon is exposed and incised / transsected.
The tendon has also an origin in the neighbourhood so the function will be
maintained.
With a hammer and chisel a little piece of bone is removed together with a part of the tendon.
The skin is sutured subcutaneously. The steristrips may be
removed after 7-10 days, showering is permitted. A pressurebandage is applied
that may be removed after about 24 hours.

The effect of the procedure can be judged after about two months!!
