Closure of ileo- and colostoma
In this patient a bowel operation was performed with a complicated course, making an ileostomy and colostomy necessary. Now the continuity of the bowel can be restored.
A little fistula is still present in the scar. At the upper side of the picture the ileostoma can be seen. The colostomy was necessary to decompress the large bowel because there is always production of mucus and gas, even in the absence of stools .
After releasing the stomata and excising the scar the small and large bowel are put together(3-5)
With a special device a new connection is made between the small and large bowel and then the abdomen is closed (6-9).
