Fracture metacarpal bone
A metacarpal fracture can often be treated non operatively. In this case the lower intra-articular part is broken and dislocated, necessitating an operation in order to prevent arthrosis in the future.
Traction reduces the fracture. By drilling metal pins through the first and second metacarpal bone the good position is maintained.
A cast is applied for a period of about 4-6 weeks. Then the pins will be removed.
