The correction is done here by removing a piece of skin. Previously with ink the part that will be removed has been outlined. Then local anaesthesia is administered as a result of which the complete ear shell will be painfree (1,2,3)

Then the piece of skin is cut loose and removed (4,5,6)

Hereafter a pair of deep soluble sutures is placed which ensures that the ear swings back to the head (7,8) and then the skin is closed, here also with soluble sutures. The outer parts of these sutures will erode and disappear after a number of weeks.

The intervention lasts per ear approximately 20-25 minutes. Generally the intervention is bothsided and this can happen in one session. The day after the intervention  showering is permitted.
