Treatment can be surgical. The warts can be removed by the electrical knife. An example of this treatment in the anal region is shown below. Surgery can take place under general anesthesia or under regional anesthesia.
In 1 and 2 the warts can be seen, some small, some larger. Especially the big ones are reason for surgery. The smaller warts can also be chemically treated (podophylline). In 3-5 is shown how the warts are removed and 6 shows the endresult. Open wounds remain that will heal within a couple of weeks. As long as the wounds are open, wound fluid will be produced. This is a normal phenomenon. Daily showering and rinsing after bowel movements is sufficient.
