Colonperforation

Due to inflammation of the large bowel a perforation the bowel has developed with as a result gas outside the bowel as can be seen underneath the diafragm on the x-ray (1,2)
The inflamed part of the bowel is in the left lower quadrant (3,4).
With a special device the gut is closed en cleaved at the same time (5,6) and after clamping and cleaving the vessels to the gut (7,8) the sick part can be removed (9).
The removed specimen with a detail of the (covered) hole (10,11).
The healthy parts of the bowel are approximated to each other with some sutures (12). Now the two parts are sealed together with the same special device, that can be refilled with staples. Suturing by hand is alsoo possible, but with the device it takes less time.
